1 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
2 tsp olive oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp finely chopped green chillies
salt to taste

   Hi Gary, The time and number of whistles depend upon your pressure cooker (the size), on the flame and also, upon the method of cooking i.e using a vessel and then cooking or directly adding to a pressure cooker.

   Hello, There is a controversy about cooking with olive oil. However, you can switch to regular oil if you don''t wish to use olive oil.
