Walnuts are cooked with rawa, ghee and sugar and flavoured with cardamom to make a delicious, quick and scrumptious halwa.

Walnut Halwa recipe - How to make Walnut Halwa

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:    Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

1 tbsp semolina (rava)
1/2 cup sugar
3 tbsp ghee
1 cup walnuts (akhrot) , crushed
1/3 cup milk
1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder

For The Garnish
1/4 cup coarsely crushed walnuts (akhrot)

Method
    Method
  1. Combine ½ cup water and sugar in a deep bowl, mix well and cook till the syrup is made of one string consistency.
  2. Meanwhile, heat the ghee in a non-stick kadhai and add the semolina and sauté over a slow flame for a minute.
  3. Add the walnuts and cook over a slow flame, stirring continuously, till the mixture turns golden brown. (approx. 15 minutes).
  4. Add the sugar syrup a little at a time, while stirring continuously and cook on a slow flame till the mixture becomes dry.
  5. Add the milk, mix well and cook on a slow flame for another 10 minutes.
  6. Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
  7. Serve hot garnished with walnuts.

  1. Cook the walnuts on a very slow flame or else they tend to burn and emit an off flavour.

Hello, I tried to make walnut halwa but I didn''t notice that the flame was high while adding walnut powder in kadai and it got somehow burned , now the dish is smelling badly, any solution to gain up this ???

Had a question about the amoutn of Rava mentioned.. just one tablespoon?
