A basic sauce made by using plain flour, butter and milk. Easy to make but very versatile in its uses. Its used as a base for various soups, pastas, sauces and many other dishes which require a certain creaminess.

Makes 1 cup
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp plain flour (maida)
1 cup milk
salt to taste

- Method
- Melt the butter, add the flour and cook on a slow flame for 2 minutes, while stirring throughout.
- Add the milk gradually while stirring continuously, so that no lumps form and bring it to a boil.
- Add the salt and mix well. Remove from the fire and keep aside.
