Wholesome Deep Dish Pizza

Thick crusty pizza bread topped with a delicious mix of vegetable textures, surprising flavours and colourful appearance. This pizza is baked in a deep pie dish or a deep dish. Experiment with your own topping ideas and combinations.

Makes 1 pizza.
1/2 recipe Basic Pizza Base
1/2 recipe Pizza Sauce
butter or oil for greasing
To be mixed into a topping
1 1/2 cups mixed vegetables, sliced
2 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
salt to taste
For baking
1/2 cup grated mozzrella cheese
1 tbsp olive oil or oil
Method
- Main Procedure
- Roll out the pizza dough into a circle of 200 mm. (8") diameter and 8 mm. (1/3") thickness. Line a 150 mm. (6") greased pie dish with it.
- Spread the pizza sauce over the base and fill with the topping.
- Top with cheese and finally drizzle the olive oil over it.
- Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°C (360°F) for about 20 minutes or until the base is evenly browned.
- Serve hot.
