If you don't mind the taste of coconut oil you can mix 1tsp of coconut oil to the boiled asparagus stems before adding them to the pan

1 lb asparagus
2 tsp oil to fry
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/4 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1/4 tsp chana dal (split Bengal gram)
2 dry red chillies
coconut oil (optional)
Method
- Peel the asparagus stems and cut into quarters or rounds
- -put 2tbsp water and microwave for 5 minutes or until soft.
- -in a pan heat oil add and crack mustard seeds and once no more noise add the rest of the ingredients and the boiled asparagus and fry in open pan for 1 minute.
