Ingredients


For Matar Paratha
1/2 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
1/2 cup boiled green peas
1 to 2 green chillies , finely chopped
1 tbsp low fat curds (dahi)
1/8 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
salt to taste

whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta) for rolling
2 1/2 tsp peanut oil or for cooking

  1. To make {span class="bold1"}matar paratha{/span}, purée the green peas into a smooth paste in a blender.
  2. Combine all the ingredients and knead into a soft dough using enough water.
  3. Divide the dough into 5 equal portions
  4. Roll out each portion into a 125 mm. (5") diameter circle with the help of a little flour to roll the paratha.
  5. Cook each {span class="bold1"}matar paratha{/span} on a non-stick pan until both sides are golden brown, using ½ tsp of oil.
  6. Serve the {span class="bold1"}matar paratha{/span} hot.

How to make Matar Paratha

  1. To make matar paratha | Punjabi matar ka paratha | green pea paratha | heathy matar paratha for weight loss |  take a sauce pan. 
  2. Add enough water into it to boil the green peas.
  3. Once the water starts boiling, add ½ cup of green peas. They are a very good source of dietary fiber. 
  4. Add little salt. Adding salt at this step would stop enzyme actions which can cause loss of flavor, color and texture.
  5. Boil the green peas until cooked and Strain the green peas using a strainer.
  6. Put the green peas in a bowl of ice-cold water. This is to preserve the green  colour of the green peas.
  7. Strain the green peas again. Discard the water or use it to make a soup.
  8. Put the green peas into a blender and blend until it turns into a smooth paste. Keep aside.
  9. Take a deep bowl and put ½ cup of wheat flour into it.
  10. Then add the boiled green pea paste to it.
  11. Add the green chillies. You can add chillies according to your preference of spiciness.
  12. Add low fat curd. Curd would help in making the paratha softer and it also helps in binding the dough, as we are not using any water in the recipe.
  13. Add carom seeds. Carom seeds aids in digestion.
  14. Add salt to taste.
  15. Mix all the ingredients and knead into a soft dough without using any water.
  16. Divide the dough into 5 equal portions.

wow... these parathas simply taste yummy... i loved the flavor of ajwain... and what was more interesting is that i didnt need any water to knead it thus the flavor of the peas was 100% intact... try it... !!!
