Chopped Paneer Recipes. Indian Chopped Paneer Recipes. Paneer is a fresh cheese that originated in the Indian sub-continent. Paneer is also known as cottage cheese. Apart from being used heavily in Indian food, it is also used in certain Mediterranean cuisines like Persian. Paneer is made by curdling hot milk with lemon juice, straining the curd and then pressing it to form a soft block of paneer. Since paneer does not have a flavor of its own, it easily adapts to the flavors it is cooked in.
Paneer is both soft, creamy and delicious and that is why it can be added to a refreshing salad, a flavorful subzi, pulao, roti or even a soft dessert. When paneer is pressed down to make a block, all the excess liquid is drained off, making it easier to handle. This block of paneer can be chopped into big or tiny pieces and used in recipes.
Paneer can adapt too many flavors very easily and you can add it so many different recipes. A combination of mixed vegetables with a hint of oriental flavors of soy sauce and some paneer can be stuffed into bread to make delicious Baked Bread Rolls. +As you already know, Indians love paneer. We add it to an array of different dishes from subzis, to rice and starters even. A glimpse of few of those dishes are:
Paneer Chilly Dosa- This famous Street side snack combines Chinese flavors with the ever loved dosa! The stuffing has a spicy flavor and a wonderful texture, thanks to veggies and chopped paneer.
Paneer Samosa - Samosa, the most famous street snack, has been given a makeover by using paneer and capsicum instead of the usual potato mixture.
Paneer Khurchan – This is a simple, basic subzi that is loved by all. It uses everyday ingredients like onions, tomatoes and coriander which are not hard to find.
To make the paneer we first have to curdle the milk. This obtained curd, called Chenna, is often used in Indian desserts like Rasmalai. Sometimes when you don’t have chenna, you can use paneer, which is just a block form of chenna, to make some desserts. Baked Rasgullas are made by baking the sweet dessert in a creamy paneer sauce where the aroma and flavor of spices like saffron and cardamom are boosted by the baking process. Another great dessert is Apple Sandesh which is a perfect balance of tradition, modernity and convenience that you can prepare in a few minutes.
