Coconut Bread Upma recipe - How to make Coconut Bread Upma

Makes 2 to 3 servings
4 to 5 slices of bread
2 chopped green chillies
1/4 cup chopped onions
4 tbsp freshly grated coconut
1 tsp chopped coriander (dhania)
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
salt to taste
1/4 tsp chilli powder
2 pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
For The Seasoning:
1 tsp oil
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
a few mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/4 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1/4 tsp chana dal (split bengal gram)
a few curry leaves (kadi patta)
Method
- Method
- Heat the oil in a kadhai and add the mustard seeds.
- When the seeds crackle, add all the ingredients for the seasoning and saute for 1 minute.
- Add the onions and saute till the onions turn golden brown.
- Add chillies and saute for 20 seconds.
- Add the broken bread slices, salt, coriander leaves,turmeric and chilli powder and mix well and saute till the bread is almost cooked.
- Add the coconut and saute for 2 minutes.
- Serve hot.
