There is nothing that can compare with the humble cheese toast in terms of availability and universality! from top-notch restaurants to small bus stand vendors, almost all eateries offer this simple but sumptuous food. There are many variants of the cheese toast, some toasted, some grilled and some excitingly deep-fried as in this case! deep-fried cheese toast is an occasional treat, an indulgent alternative to the traditional version. You would love to have it on a lazy sunday afternoon!

Makes 4 toast
To Be Mixed Into A Batter
1 cup cornflour
1/2 cup grated processed cheese
1 tsp mustard (rai / sarson) powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp soda bi-carb
1/2 cup cold milk
salt to taste
Other Ingredients
4 slices of bread
oil for deep-frying
For Serving
tomato ketchup
- Method
- Dip a bread slice in the prepared batter and deep-fry in hot oil till golden brown in colour from both the sides.
- Repeat step 1 to make 3 more toast.
- Drain on absorbent paper, cut them into 2 vertically and serve immediately with tomato ketchup.
