  1. Combine the masoor dal and 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  2. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  3. Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds.
  4. When the seeds crackle, add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the ginger paste, garlic paste, green chilli paste, mixed vegetables and cauliflower florets, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  6. Add the cooked dal, tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, dried mango powder, salt and 2 cups of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  7. Add the coriander and mix well.
  8. Serve hot.

Vegetables in this dal adds a nice crunch to the regular dal. Also the garlic has a slight dominating flavour in it which makes it even more amazing. The masoor dal is tasting really good with the spices added in it. Really happy after trying this recipe. Looking forward to more recipes.
