To Be Mixed Into A Filling
3/4 cup readymade cream cheese
1/4 cup finely chopped and deseeded tomatoes
1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
1/2 tsp dried mixed herbs
1 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
2 tbsp chopped basil leaves
salt to taste

8 bread slices
4 tsp butter for spreading
For cream cheese sandwich

- To make {span class="bold1"}cream cheese sandwich{/span}, divide the filling into 4 equal portions. Keep aside.
- Trim the sides of all the bread slices and apply ½ tsp of butter on each bread slice.
- Put a portion of the prepared filling on a buttered bread slice, and spread it evenly. Cover it with another bread slice with the buttered side facing downwards.
- Repeat step 3 to make 3 more {span class="bold1"}cream cheese sandwiches{/span}.

Cream cheese sandwich filling

To prepare filling for our cream cheese sandwich, in a deep bowl, take readymade cream cheese.

Add finely chopped and deseeded tomatoes. You can make use of any veggies of your choice like cucumber, boiled corn, grated cabbage, purple cabbage,beetroot or carrots etc. But, if you are planning to pack this cream cheese sandwich for picnics or lunch then avoid adding watery vegetables and stick to the recipe. Also, in case you are using boiled corn or grated cucumber then remove all the water to prevent the cream cheese from turning runny.

Add finely chopped capsicum. We have used all three variants viz, red , yellow and green.

Add 2 tbsp of chopped basil leaves to give a refreshing flavour. Also, you can make use of parsley or cilantro as a substitute.
