Ingredients


For Paneer Cheese Toast
4 bread slices
4 tsp oil
4 tbsp grated processed cheese

For The Paneer Topping
1 cup grated paneer (cottage cheese)
1 1/2 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
1 tsp garlic (lehsun) paste
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp pav bhaji masala
salt to taste
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)

  1. Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds.
  2. When the seeds crackle, add the onions and garlic paste and sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute.
  3. Add the tomatoes, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, pav bhaji masala and salt, mix well cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the paneer and coriander, mix well cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Keep aside.

  1. To make paneer cheese toast, heat a non-stick tava (griddle), grease it using 1 tsp of oil, place a bread slice on it and cook till it turns light brown in colour from both the sides.
  2. Place a portion of the paneer topping and 1 tbsp of cheese evenly over it, cover with a lid and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Cut the toasts diagonally into 2 equal pieces.
  4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to make 3 more toasts.
  5. Serve the paneer cheese toast immediately with tomato ketchup.

For the paneer cheese topping

  1. Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds.

  1. To make paneer cheese toast, heat a non-stick tava (griddle), grease it using 1 tsp of oil.
  2. Place a bread slice on it and cook till it turns light brown in colour from both the sides. You can even toast the bread slice in a pop-up toaster or oven. Make use of any variety of bread as per your preference.
  3. Turn the flame to the lowest or simply switch it off and place a portion of the paneer topping.
  4. Sprinkle 1 tbsp of cheese evenly over it. Also, you can use mozzarella cheese if you want that stringy mouthfeel.
  5. Cover with a lid and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes. Before serving , you can even sprinkle some dried herbs like oregano and chilli flakes.
  6. Cut the toasts diagonally into 2 equal pieces. Also, you can grill in a pre-heated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 8 to 10 minutes, till they turn golden brown in colour on top.
