Pittu presents a traditional snack recipe which is prepared commonly in South Indian households. The lentil based coarse batter is steamed just like idlis and then crumbled. These crumbled idlis or pittu are relished mixed with green chillies and tempered with curry leaves, mustard seeds and grated coconut.

Method


  1. Soak dhals together in water for 11/2 to 2 hrs.
  2. Grind coarsely(rawa consistency) steam like idlies.
  3. Allow it to cool thoroughly. sprinkle little hot water and crumble well.
  4. Heat oil, add seasonings along with minced chillies and crumbled idlies. fry well in medium flame, before removing from fire squeeze lemon and mix with grated coconut.
