Compote (is a French word meaning mixture) is a dessert of Fruit cooked in sugar and spices. We have added wine to give it the additional punch. Serve the fruit compote with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Makes 2 servings
6 to 8 dried apricots (kummani / jardalu)
1/4 cup dried prunes
1/4 cup dates (khajur)
1/2 cup chopped fresh pineapple
1/2 cup white wine
1/2 cup apple juice
1 star anise (chakri phool)
1 small sized cinnamon (dalchini) stick
1 tbsp sugar
For Serving
whipped cream or vanilla ice-cream
Method
- Main procedure
- Combine all the ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil.
- Cover the pan and simmer until fruits are tender.
- Put compote in a bowl and allow it to cool to room temperature.
- Serve in a plate topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice-cream.
