Description

Jelly is a type of Fruit preserves, in American English, specifically a clear fruit spread consisting of firmed fruit (or vegetable) juice made with pectin. In British English, 'jelly' is also generally used to mean a sweet desert made by adding gelatin to fruit juice, or more commonly from commercially prepared concentrated blocks. Jelly in the sense of a preserve or spread can be made from sweet, savory or hot ingredients. It is made by a similar process to jam, with the additional step of filtering out the fruit pulp after the initial heating. A muslin or stockinette "jelly bag" is traditionally used as a filter, suspended by string over a bowl to allow the straining to occur gently under gravity. These jellies are available in all possible flavors and tastes. Its thick consistency and delicious taste make it very popular among kids. Very low in calorie, these are made of fresh fruits in very hygienic and sanitized conditions. These are available in multiple shapes and sizes to look more appetizing and mouth watering.

Blueberry jelly
Is a clear fruit spread consisting of blueberry or its juice made with pectin.
Chopped jelly
Chop the jelly slab into big or small chunks, as desired. Jelly cubes are also quite popular. Chopped pieces of jelly are used in various baking and other sweet making recipes for enhancing the taste of the dish. These soft and consistent jelly cubes are packaged in attractive boxes and containers.
Jelly crystals
They are basically gelling agents like carrageenan, locust bean gum, etc which are used to prepare jellies at home. These crystals should be dissolved in water and then poured in moulds to prepare attractive jellies. They are available in many flavors, ranging from orange, mango, raspberry, etc.
Jelly cubes
Place the jelly on a clean dry surface and gently cut into 2" thick strips lengthwise, using a sharp knife. Take care not to mash the jelly. To create square cubes, slice across each strip to create desired sized cubes. These cubes can be used for garnishing of desserts and various recipes and also can be served as it is.
Lemon jelly
Is a clear fruit spread consisting of lemon or its juice made with pectin. Lemon jelly may also be prepared by adding gelatin to fruit juice, or more commonly from commercially prepared concentrated blocks
Mango jelly
It is a clear fruit spread consisting of firm mango or mango juice made with pectin. Clean mangoes, finely dice the mango pulp and place it into saucepan. Pour sugar over diced mangoes and cook it to boil for about 5 minutes in low heat (stir it constantly). Carefully blend it with a hand blender, stir pectin and vanilla sugar in it and cook it for 3 minutes more.
Orange jelly
Is a clear fruit spread consisting of firm orange or orange juice made with pectin. It can also be prepared at home by soaking the gelatin in the cold water. Dissolve it in the boiling water. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Add lemon juice, orange rind, and orange juice. Pour the jelly into a wet mold. Chill until it is firm. Unmold it and serve it with Cream or Custard Sauce.
Pineapple jelly
Is a clear fruit spread consisting of firm pineapple or pineapple juice made with pectin.
Pineapple jelly cubes
Place the set jelly on a chopping board. Cut it into cubes of desired sizes with a sharp knife. use as required.
Red jelly
Is a red colored clear fruit spread consisting of firm fruit or juice made with pectin.
Strawberry jelly
Is a clear fruit spread consisting of strawberry or its juice made with pectin.

How to select

Good jelly is clear and sparkling and has a fresh flavor of the fruit from which it is made. It is tender enough to quiver when moved, but holds angles when cut.
