Ingredients


1 cup mixed dals ( toovar dal, urad dal, masoor dal, moong dal, chana dal)
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
1 tomato, finely chopped
chopped fenugreek (methi) leaves
butter for tempering
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp garam masala
2 green chillies
1 tsp chilli powder
turmeric powder (haldi) and salt to taste
tamarind (imli) or kokum according to taste

Method

  1. Soak dal for 2hours(it will cook faster)
  2. Pressure cook dal for 20 mins.
  3. When dal is done,prepare for baghar.
  4. Add butter in kadai,when hot. add jeera.
  5. After jeere crackles add chopped onin,cook tillreddish in colour
  6. Add ginger garlic paste ,fry for 5mins-
  7. Add chopped tomato,cook till it melts.
  8. Add chopped methi leaves,haldi,red chilly powder.
  9. Add baghar to dal with salt and garam masala.
  10. Cook for 5 min.
  11. Eat dal with rotis or prathas.(if you wish dal to be more sour add imli or cocum flowerwater)
