Gottu rasam

This is one of the best remedies for cold - either drink it or add rasam to hot rice and ghee and eat it beat the cold.

Ingredients


Arhar dal - 3 teaspoons
Coriander seeds - 1 teaspoon
Jeera - 1 teaspoon
Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Garlic pods - 2 or 3
Red chilly - 2
Ripe Tomato - 3
Ghe - 1/2 teaspoon Haldi - 1/4 teaspoon
salt to taste
For seasoning:
Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Jeera - 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Oil - 1 teaspoon

Method

  1. In a kadai fry oil with red chilly, dal, coriander seeds, pepper and jeera till golden brown. then grind them to a fine powder consistency. crush the garlic and add to the mixture and keep aside.
  2. In anoher pan add 2 cups water to chopped tomatoes, haldi and salt. boil the liquid till he tomato pieces soften. now add the powdered mixture to it and boil for 3 minutes.
  3. In the kadai fry the seasoning ingredients and pour over the rasam.
