Basic pasta recipe, How to Make Homemade Pasta

Pasta is another authentic Italian dish. There are two types of pasta – fresh and dry. You have to boil both of them till al dente that is cooked to be firm to the bite. Few things you have to keep in mind are boil plenty of water in a large pan with salt and oil. Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally and gently until the pasta is tender.

Very small pasta (like macaroni, fusilli, conchiglie, penne) may cook in 5 minutes, while larger shapes (like spaghetti, fettuccine, dried lasagne sheets) may require 10 minutes. Immediately drain the cooked pasta into a sieve or a colander. Transfer to a bowl of cold water to refresh it which stops the cooking process. Also, if you are not using them immediately then drizzle some oil and toss gently.
