3/4 cup chopped black seedless dates
3/4 cup chopped dried fruits
1 tsp butter
2 tbsp condensed milk
5 to 8 saffron (kesar) strands
a pinch of cardamom (elaichi) powder

  1. Heat the butter in a broad non-stick pan, add the condensed milk and dates, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove the mixture into a deep bowl, add the dry fruits, saffron and cardamom powder and mix very well.
  3. Take a foil on a clean, dry surface and grease it with little butter.
  4. Place the mixture on one end of the foil to form a cylindrical roll.
  5. Roll it tightly and seal the edges. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove from the foil, cut into 12 mm. (1/2”) slices.
  7. Serve immediately or store in an air-tight container and use as required.

   Hi, It will stay good for a week.. make sure to store it in an air-tight container.

The ingredients list and method do not mention nuts. Is the condensed milk from a tin?

   Hi Judi, The recipe mentions 3/4 cup chopped dried fruits and yes, the condensed milk is from the tin.

crunchy nuts with natural sweet of the dates, makes the it very healthy, and good option for growing kids. I make this often and store it in fridge.

This is a nice healthy bar of dates and mixed nuts flavored with condensed milk and coated with icing sugar. My elder daughter loved it and i can keep eating it. Much healthier than other bars and its home made and fresh.
