Hummus is a common Mediterranean dip made with chickpeas and garlic. Here is an Indianised version that is just right for desi food lovers!

While the recipe still retains the traditional hummus ingredients like chick peas, garlic, olive oil, curds and herbs, we have spiked it up further using tongue-tickling Tandoori Masala Powder.

This gives the hummus a unique flavour. Serve this delicious Tandoori Hummus with pita bread. You can try other desi dips like the Achar Dip and the Thecha Hummus .

2 tsp tandoori masala
1 cup soaked and boiled kabuli chana (white chick peas)
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp garlic (lehsun) paste
1 tbsp lemon juice
3 tbsp fresh curds (dahi)
salt to taste

For The Garnish
2 tsp olive oil
chilli powder to sprinkle
1 tsp finely chopped parsley

For Serving
pita bread

  1. Combine the kabuli chana, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, curds, tandoori masala powder, 2 tbsp of water and salt, in a mixer and blend till smooth.
  2. Spoon the mixture into a serving plate and pour olive oil and sprinkle chili powder and parsley over it.
  3. Refrigerate till use and serve with pita bread.
