Ingredients


For Lapsi
1/2 cup broken wheat (dalia)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
3 tbsp ghee

For The Garnish
a few almond (badam) slivers and pistachio slivers

Method

For lapsi

  1. To make {span class="bold1"}lapsi {/span}, heat the ghee in a non-stick kadhai, add the broken wheat, mix well and cook on a slow flame for 5 to 7 minutes or till it turns golden brown in colour, while stirring continuously.
  2. Add 2 cups of warm water, mix well and cook on a high flame till the water starts boiling.
  3. Cook on a slow flame for 15 to 17 minutes or till the broken wheat is almost done, while stirring continuously.
  4. Add the sugar and cardamom powder, mix well and cook on a slow flame for 5 to 7 minutes or till the ghee separates, while stirring continuously.
  5. Serve the {span class="bold1"}lapsi {/span} hot garnished with almond and pistachio slivers.

Handy tip:

  1. If you make the {span class="bold1"}lapsi {/span} in advance, before serving add 2 tbsp of milk to the lapsi, mix well and reheat it for 2 minutes.

Good recipe. Can substitute White sugar for gur. Tastes even better. If possible - lightly fry Kishmish or even chopped khajur in addition to some nuts (Kaju or badam) - to get studded Lapsi My grandmother used to make Lapsi....and this one is sentimental as well as very healthy and tasty thankyou Tarla ben for taking care to compose accurate recipes....
