For Sprouted Moong Khichdi
3/4 cup sprouted moong (whole green gram)
3/4 cup uncooked rice (chawal) or long grain rice (basmati chawal)
2 tbsp ghee
2 to 3 pinches asafoetida (hing)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)

To Be Mixed Together In Masala Mixture
2 tsp coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp chilli powder
2 tbsp grated fresh coconut
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
salt to taste

Method

  1. To make sprouted moong khichdi recipe, wash the rice. Drain.
  2. Wash the moong sprouts. Drain.
  3. Put the ghee in a microwave safe glass bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute.
  4. Add the rice, moong sprouts, asafoetida, turmeric powder, masala mixture and 11/2 cups of water and mix gently. Cover with a lid and microwave on high for 14 minutes, stirring twice in between.
  5. Serve sprouted moong khichdi hot.
