Here, we show you how to make perfect Whole Wheat Brown Bread Rolls, which can be served for breakfast with jam and honey, or served with the appetizers for a more elaborate meal.

Baking Temperature:  200°C (400°F)

Ingredients


For Whole Wheat Bread Rolls
2 cups whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
1 tsp instant dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp soft butter
salt to taste
1 tsp oil for greasing
2 tsp milk for brushing
2 tsp melted butter for brushing

Method

For whole wheat bread rolls

  1. Combine the yeast, sugar and 2 tbsp of warm water in a small bowl, cover it with a lid and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Combine the whole wheat flour, butter, salt, yeast-sugar mixture in a deep bowl and knead it into soft dough using approx. ¾ cup of warm water.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp muslin cloth and keep aside for 20 minutes.
  4. Grease a baking tray with oil and keep aside.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball and place it on the greased baking tray.
  6. Cover them with a damp muslin cloth and keep in a warm place for 45 minutes or till they rise well.
  7. Brush it with milk evenly.
  8. Bake the {span class="bold1"}whole wheat bread rolls{/span} in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) for 20 minutes.
  9. Immediately brush the {span class="bold1"}whole wheat bread rolls{/span} with melted butter, cool slightly and serve warm.
