How to make tadkewali chaas at home-

- Add the cumin seeds powder. Lightly roasting the cumin seeds before making the powder uplifts the taste.
- Add the ginger-green chilli paste. You can make spicy buttermilk by adding a few more ingredients.
- Add the black salt and salt in the deep bowl. You can skip the sanchal if you don’t have it.
- Mix everything very well.
- Add 4 cups of chilled water and whisk well. Keep aside. If not chilled water then use ice cubes to make chilled buttermilk. Chaas is a popular summer cooler in India.
- For the tempering of chaas, heat the oil in a small pan. Giving a tadka to the chaas is an age-old practice. If you don’t like it then skip doing it.
- Once the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds.
- When the seeds crackle, add the asafetida. Ginger, curry leaves, fennel are some other popular ingredients added to the tadka to enhance the taste of the chaas.
