Ingredients


For Chana Chaat
1 cup kala chana (brown chick peas)
2 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp green chilli paste
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
3/4 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp garam masala
2 tsp chaat masala
1/2 cup boiled , peeled and chopped potatoes
salt to taste
1 1/2 tbsp finely chopped raw mangoes
1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
4 tsp lemon juice

Method
For chana chaat

  1. To make chana chaat, soak the kala chana in enough water in a deep bowl overnight. Next day, drain it.
  2. Add the kala chana and enough water in a pressure cooker and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
  3. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Drain and keep aside.
  4. Heat the butter in a deep non-stick kadhai, add the green chilli paste and onions and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes or till the onions turn translucent.
  5. Add the tomatoes, chilli powder, garam masala and chaat masala, mix well and sauté on a medium flame for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Add the potatoes, chana, salt, raw mangoes, coriander and lemon juice, mix well and cook on a medium flame for another 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.

  11. Add garam masala. We have used homemade garam masala
  12. Add chaat masala. It will give a nice tangy chatpata taste to our chana chaat. 
  13. Mix well and saute on medium flame for 2 minutes. 
  14. Add the potatoes. 
  15. Add chana and salt. 
  16. Add raw mango. If you do not have it available, you an simply skip the step. 
  17. Add coriander and lemon juice. It will add a refreshing flavor to our chana chaat. 
  18. Mix well and cook on medium flame for 2-3 minutes, while stirring chana chaat | kala chana chaat | black chana chaat | black chickpea salad | occasionally. 
  19. Serve chana chaat | kala chana chaat | black chana chaat | black chickpea salad | immediately. If packing it for lunchbox, allow it to cool completely and then pack.

Chana chaat.. lovely tangy chatpata recipe. The chana perfectly cooked with tomatoes, raw mangoes, lemon juice. Its super delicious. And best for a kids tiffin, they just enjoy it.
