Traditionally, chila is a thin pancake made of gram flour, but this nutritious chila uses a healthy combination of jowar, whole wheat and maize flour making it a great source of protein and vitamin A. You could also create your own version by combining other flours. Enjoy it with coriander garlic chutney.

1/4 cup jowar (white millet) flour
1/4 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
1/4 cup maize flour (makai ka atta)
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
salt to taste
1 1/4 tsp oil for greasing and cooking

For Serving
coriander green garlic chutney

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well to make a batter of pouring consistency using enough water.
  2. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it lightly using ¼ tsp of oil.
  3. Pour a ladleful of the batter on the non-stick tava (griddle) and spread it in a circular motion to make a 125 mm. (5”) diameter circle.
  4. Cook, using ¼ tsp of oil, till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to make 3 more chilas.
  6. Serve hot with coriander green garlic chutney.

Tried this recipe today.Was very tasty, healthy and filling.Loved the combination of flours.Used oats flour instead of maize flour.Will try again using other flours and some veggies.

Nice, soft pancakes made of jowar flour... And moreover suits all palates. I served it with garlic chutney and it tasted awesome.
