Thin Crust Pizza Base recipe - How to make Thin Crust Pizza Base

Preparation Time:    Baking Time:  15 minutes   Baking Temperature:  180° C (360°F)   Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 pizza bases

1 1/2 cups plain flour (maida)
1 tsp dry yeast
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sugar
salt to taste
plain flour (maida) for rolling

  1. Combine 2 tbsp of lukewarm water and dry yeast in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Cover with a lid and keep aside for 5 minutes.
  3. Combine the plain flour, yeast-water mixture, olive oil, sugar and salt in a deep bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough water.
  4. Cover the dough with a wet muslin cloth and keep aside for 1 hour.
  5. Press the dough lightly to remove the air and divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
  6. Roll each portion into a 175 mm. (7”) diameter circle with the help of plain flour for rolling and prick each circle evenly using a fork.
  7. Place 2 circles on a greased baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 5 minutes.
  8. Repeat step 7 to bake 2 more pizza base.

  1. Replace the plain with equal proportion of whole wheat flour and proceed as per the recipe.

   Hi Shreeya, Yes, you can make them today and use them tomorrow. Pizza crust can be stored at room temperature for a day. If not used then, it is better to refrigerate. But, remember to use it soon before it turns hard and unpalatable.

Hi , Where do I get dry yeast ? Is yeast compulsory if I make the pizza immediately after making the base ? Can anything else be used Instead of yeast like fruit salt / baking soda ?

   Hi Akila, You will need dry yeast and you can get it from super market, you will not be able to make it immediately.

This basic pizza base is so quick and easy to make I bake my own pizza base and my family enjoys it. They say its much better than the store bought one.
