Ingredients


For Cinnamon Rolls
1 1/2 tsp instant dry yeast
2 tsp sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups plain flour (maida)
a pinch of salt
1 tbsp melted butter for brushing

To Be Mixed Into A Filling
1/2 cup soft butter
2 tsp cinnamon (dalchini) powder
1/2 cup brown sugar

Method
  1. Combine the yeast, sugar and 2 tbsp of lukewarm water in a bowl, mix well and cover with a lid and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Combine the butter and milk in a saucepan, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes. Cool slightly.
  3. Combine the plain flour, butter- milk mixture, yeast-sugar mixture and salt and knead into a soft dough without using any water.
  4. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and keep aside in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Knead well and roll the dough into a 300 mm. ( 12”) by 225 mm. (9”) diameter rectangle.
  6. Spread the prepared filling evenly over it leaving ½” space from all the sides.
  7. Roll from the longer side to another end.
  8. Cut into 13 equal slices using a sharp knife.
  9. Arrange them in a 175 mm. (7”) diameter cake tin.
  10. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and keep aside in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  11. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) for 20 minutes.
  12. Cool slightly, loosen the edges with a knife, demould it.
  13. Brush with melted butter evenly over it.
  14. Serve immediately.
