1/4 cup quick cooking rolled oats
1/4 cup chopped walnuts (akhrot)
5 tbsp crushed corn flakes
3/4 cup plain flour (maida)
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup butter (room temperature)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup condensed milk
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1/4 cup gems
a pinch of salt
melted butter for greasing

  1. Sieve the flour with baking powder and soda bi-carb. Keep aside.
  2. Cream the butter and brown sugar in a bowl using a spatula.
  3. Add the corn flakes, oats, walnuts, condensed milk, vanilla essence, gems and mix well.
  4. Add the sieved flour mixture and salt and mix well.
  5. Grease a 150 mm. (6”) round loose bottom cake tin using a little melted butter, pour the mixture into it and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 30 minutes.
  7. Cut into equal sized bars, cool completely and store in an air-tight container.

Out of the world is what my 10 year old says. Had to ration her on the amount she ate. I must admit that i could not resist eating this rich oats, walnuts and gems snack bar. Much healthier than the regular snack bars available in the market.
