A very interesting Pav Sandwich, which is somewhere mid-way between a regular sandwich and vada pav, but as exciting as both together! Basically, it involves less work than vada pav because you do not need a vada but it is almost as tasty because it uses garlic chutney and assorted masalas including pav bhaji and garam masalas.

The choice of vegetables layered between the pav is also such that you get a balanced texture, with a bit of crunchiness and a bit of juiciness too. Coriander, as always, peps up the whole arrangement, creating a fresh burst of flavours on your palate! Serve the Pav Sandwich immediately on preparation.

4 ladi pav , horizontally
6 tsp butter
2 tsp garlic (lehsun) chutney
4 tsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
8 boiled and peeled thick potatoes slices
8 tomatoes slices
4 sliced onions

To Be Mixed Into A Masala
1 1/2 tsp pav bhaji masala
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
salt to taste

  1. Divide the masala into 4 equal portions and keep aside.
  2. Heat 1½ tsp of butter on a non-stick tava (griddle), add ½ tsp of garlic chutney and one portion of the prepared masala and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  3. Add the coriander and mix well. Place the pav over it and cook it on a medium flame for a minute or till the masala coats the pav evenly from both the sides.
  4. Place the pav on a serving plate, stuff it with 2 potato slices, 2 tomato slices and 1 onion slice and press it gently.
  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 to make 3 more pav sandwiches.
  6. Serve immediately.

Its so tasty... I altered to chopped veg all mixed rather slices.. Tasted too good to be true. Thank you.

In ladi pav sandwich I would add thinly sliced capsicums,mushrooms,and zucchini all slightly sautéed in olive oil. Still other option would be use whole wheat ladi pav which is now easily available.

This is something different. Not a sandwich nor a pav bhaji! A combination of the two. The masala made in this recipe is definitely super. Just loved it to the core. The pav bhaji masala and garam masala adds a perfect to it. I also added some cheese to ti and it tastes amazing..
