Here, we show you how to make perfect Whole Wheat Brown Bread Rolls, which can be served for breakfast with jam and honey, or served with the appetizers for a more elaborate meal.

Whole Wheat Bread Rolls recipe - How to make Whole Wheat Bread Rolls

Preparation Time:    Baking Time:  25 minutes   Baking Temperature:  200°C (400°F)   Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 8 buns

2 cups whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
1 tsp dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp soft butter
salt to taste
oil for greasing
melted butter for brushing

  1. Combine the yeast, sugar and 2 tbsp of warm water in a small bowl, cover it with a lid and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Combine the whole wheat flour, butter, salt, yeast-sugar mixture in a deep bowl and knead it into soft dough using approx. ¾ cup of warm water.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp muslin cloth and keep aside for 20 minutes.
  4. Grease a baking tray with oil and keep aside.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball and place it on the greased baking tray.
  6. Cover them with a damp muslin cloth and keep in a warm place for 45 minutes or till they rise well.
  7. Bake them in a pre-heated oven at 200°c (400°f) for 20 minutes.
  8. Cool slightly and serve.

   Hi Ruchi, After the buns are baked, immediately apply butter on top and sides, this will keep them soft and moist.

Did everything the way its mentioned in the recipe.The dough raise well too, but the buns were not soft....How can we make them soft..

   Hi Ruchi, Make sure you put melted butter immediately once baked, they will remain soft...

This recipe is what i was waiting for. Whole wheat bread. Everyone in my family loves bread and so do i. These bread rolls are nice and soft from outside and even from inside. Butter it nicely and its yumm. And the best part is i can have it without the guilt of having maida. Also the baking time is just 20 minutes. That''s definately a plus point, otherwise generally there is a lot of baking time in almost all the recipes that i have seen.
