For that clean and wash a bunch of coriander. Roughly chop it and measure a cup. Transfer the roughly chopped coriander to a mixer jar. Add thinly sliced onions. Add freshly grated coconut. You can keep the brown skin intact or remove it before grating. Add green chillies. Add ginger. If you do not have fresh adrak mirch then add ginger-green chillies paste. Add garlic. Add the lemon juice. This helps in maintaining the bright green colour of the paste. Add approx. 5 tbsp water Grind to a coarse paste. Keep aside. How to make Green Dal FryHow to make Green Dal Fry To prepare the green dal fry, place the toovar dal in a deep bowl. Add the yellow moong dal. Clean and wash the toovar and arhar dal. You can use a combination of other dal like moong or chana dal too. Add fresh water. Cover with a lid and keep aside for 30 to 45 minutes. Drain well using a strainer. Take a pressure cooker, add the soaked dals. Add 1 cup of water. Add salt. Add the turmeric powder. Mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles. Allow the steam to escape naturally before opening the lid. Mix the dals once and keep aside. Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan. Ghee or butter can be used as a substitute. Add the prepared green paste. Sauté on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes or till the green paste is cooked well. Add the prepared cooked dal. Add 3/4 cup of hot water. Add salt. Add more or less water as per the consistency you would like. The salt has been added while cooking the dal too, so be cautious while adding salt at this stage.
