Olives and olive oil are commonly used in Italian cuisine, and hence the Italian open sandwich too uses black olives lavishly. Once you have the ingredients ready, this recipe can be prepared in a jiffy as the baking time is also relatively low.




Recipe Description for Italian Open Toast Sandwich

Preparation Time: 
Baking Time:  15 to 18 minutes
Baking Temperature:  180°C (360°F)

Ingredients

2 hot dog rolls
melted butter for brushing

To Be Mixed Into A Herb Cheesy Tomato Topping
1 tbsp dried oregano
1/2 cup grated processed cheese or mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup blanched , peeled , deseeded and chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
1 tbsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
1 1/2 tbsp deseeded and sliced black olives
1/2 cup capsicum cubes (red , yellow and green)
salt to taste

Method
  1. Cut each hot dog roll lengthwise into two and brush all the bread halves with a little melted butter.
  2. Place them on a greased baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 4 to 5 minutes. Keep aside.
  3. Divide the herb cheesy tomato topping into 4 equal portions and keep aside.
  4. Place all the hot dog roll halves on a clean, dry surface and spread a portion of the herb cheesy tomato topping evenly over each halve.
  5. Place them on a baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180°c (360°f) for 6 to 8 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately.
