Drain. In a pressure cooker put the dals, salt and 1½ cups of water, mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick kadhai, add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.Add the prepared paste and sauté on a medium flame for another 1 to 2 minutes.Add the tomatoes and 2 tbsp of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.Add the cooked dal, salt, 1 cup water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.Garnish with coriander and serve the {span class="bold1"}masala dal{/span} hot with rice or parathas.
