Ingredients


For Paneer Aur Hara Chane ka Salad
1/2 cup paneer (cottage cheese) cubes
1 1/2 cups soaked and boiled hara chana (dried green peas)
3/4 cup deseeded tomato cubes
1/2 cup chopped spring onions

To Be Mixed Into A Lemony Dressing
2 tbsp lemon juice
freshly ground black pepper (kalimirch) to taste
1/2 tsp black salt (sanchal)
1/2 tsp roasted and coarsely crushed cumin seeds (jeera)
salt to taste

For The Garnish
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)

Method

For the lemony dressing

  1. To make the lemony dressing for {span class="bold1"}paneer aur hara chane ka salad{/span}, squeeze some fresh lemon juice in a small bowl.
  2. To this add, freshly ground black pepper, black salt, crushed cumin seeds and salt.
  3. Mix well. Keep aside.

How to cook hara chana

  1. Soak the hara chana in enough water for 8 hours or overnight. Drain.
  2. Pressure cook the soaked and drained chana in enough water for 4 whistles.
  3. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Again drain the excess water using a strainer. Keep aside.

For the paneer aur hara chane ka salad

  1. Transfer the boiled hara chana to a deep bowl.
  2. Add the paneer cubes, chopped tomatoes and chopped spring onions.
  3. Pour the dressing over it and toss well using a spoon.
  4. Serve the {span class="bold1"}paneer aur hara chane ka salad{/span} garnished with coriander.
