Ingredients


For The Bhaji
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup boiled green peas
1/4 cup finely chopped and boiled cauliflower
1/4 cup chopped and boiled carrots
1/2 cup boiled , peeled and mashed potatoes
1 1/2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp red chilli-garlic paste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tbsp pav bhaji masala
salt to taste
2 tsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)

Other Ingredients For Pav Bhaji Burger
8 burger buns
8 tbsp grated processed cheese
16 onion rings
12 tsp butter for brushing
4 tsp butter for greasing

Method

For the bhaji

  1. Heat the butter in a deep non-stick pan, add the onions and capsicum and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  2. Add the chilli-garlic paste and sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute.
  3. Add the tomatoes and 2 tbsp of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, pav bhaji masala and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the green peas, cauliflower, carrots, potatoes and ¼ cup of water and mix well. Mash it well using a potato masher and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  6. Add the coriander and mix well.
  7. Divide it into 8 equal portions and keep aside.

How to proceed to make pav bhaji burger

  1. Cut each burger bun horizontally into two. Apply 1 tsp butter on the insides of each half of the burger bun.
  2. Place the lower half of a bun on a clean, dry surface with the buttered side facing upwards and spread one portion of the bhaji. Sprinkle 1 tbsp of cheese and place 2 onion rings over it.
  3. Place the upper half of the bun over it with the buttered side facing downwards and press it lightly.
  4. Brush ½ tsp butter again on the top of the bun and keep aside.
  5. Grease the sandwich griller with ½ tsp butter and allow it to heat up.
  6. Place the burger in the griller and grill for 3 to 4 minutes or till they turn crisp and brown in colour.
  7. Repeat steps 2 to 6 to make 7 more burgers.
  8. Serve the {span class="bold1"}pav bhaji burger{/span} immediately.
