Sizzling Mushrooms

A treat for all mushroom lovers! slices of bread topped with a succulent mushroom stir-fry with onions and tomatoes, and spiced up with chilli flakes. . . What more can one ask for! oregano imparts an italian touch to this snack, which has been sautéed in a non-stick pan to cut down on the oil used for cooking. Besides, serving the sizzling mushrooms with brown bread helps enhance the fibre and other valuable nutrients.

Sizzling Mushrooms recipe - How to make Sizzling Mushrooms

1 cup thickly sliced mushrooms (khumbh)
1 tbsp oil
1/4 cup thinly sliced onions
1/2 cup thinly sliced tomatoes
salt to taste
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dry red chilli flakes (paprika)
1/2 tsp cornflour

For Serving
8 toasted whole wheat bread triangles

  1. Heat a sizzler plate over an open flame till it is red hot.
  2. Heat the oil on the plate, add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Add the tomatoes and sauté on a medium flame for another minute.
  4. Add the mushrooms, salt, oregano, chilli flakes and cornflour, mix well and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Place the plate on a wooden tray and serve immediately with toasted whole wheat bread triangles.

I love mushrooms so this was a very good choice for me. A very simple recipe with simple flavours and a good starter or could also have for dinner.
