Ingredients


For Whey Soup
2 tsp oil
1 1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 slit green chillies
3 cups whey
salt and to taste
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1/2 cup paneer (cottage cheese) cubes

Handy Tip:
1 1/2 ltrs of milk gives 4 cups of whey.

  1. To make whey soup, heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds.
  2. When the seeds crackle, add the green chillies, whey, salt and pepper, mix well and bring to boil.
  3. Add the paneer and coriander, mix well and simmer for 30 seconds.
  4. Serve the whey soup hot.

How to make the Whey Soup

  1. To make the Whey Soup, heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan. Using whey in soups is an innovative idea to incorporate this protein rich liquid in your diet. This is the leftover liquid that remains during cheese making, especially cottage cheese, and it will be an absolute waste to throw it out.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the cumin seeds.
  3. When the seeds crackle, add the green chillies. We have used slit green chillies but you can even finely chop them. You can also add curry leaves if you want.
  4. Now add the whey. Whey is filled with milk protein and is very helpful for people trying to gain muscle mass.
  5. Now add the salt to taste.
  6. Also add the pepper to the Whey soup. It gives a strong, peppery flavor to the soup.
  7. Mix well and bring the whey soup to a boil.
  8. Finally add the paneer to this. This makes the Whey soup even healthier to consume.
  9. Finally add the coriander for a fresh, herby taste, mix Whey soup well and simmer for 30 seconds.
  10. Serve Whey soup hot with Multigrain bread.

I usually discard the whey water after preparing paneer.I tried this recipe and it came out really tasty,for a twist I added tomato and garlic.My family enjoyed it.
