Aloo-roti roll is a complete meal in itself with the dough made from soaked bread slices and flour and then made into rotis. These rotis are filled with fried potato based rolls and enjoyed, rolled in between the roti.

Ingredients


For The Rotis
1 1/8 cups plain flour (maida)
1 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
2 slices white bread
1/2 tsp ghee
1/2 tsp salt

For The Potato Filling
6 to 7 potatoes , boiled and mashed
1/2 cup green peas , boiled and mashed
1/3 cup grated processed cheese
3 chopped green chillies
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp lemon juice
salt to taste

To Be Mixed Into Masala Water
2 tsp dried mango powder (amchur)
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/4 tsp salt

To Be Mixed Into An Onion Masala Mixture
2 onions , chopped
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp dried mango powder (amchur)
1/2 tsp salt

Other Ingredients
1/3 cup plain flour (maida) mixed with 3/4 cup water
bread crumbs for coating
oil for deep frying
chillies in vinegar for serving

Method
For the rotis

  1. Soak the bread slices in water for a few minutes, squeeze out the water and crumble. Keep aside.
  2. Sieve the flours and add the crumbled bread, salt and ghee, mix well and knead into a soft dough, using enough water.
  3. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll out each portions into thin rotis.
  4. Heat a tava and cook each roti from both the sides.
  5. Keep aside.

  1. Combine the potatoes, green peas, cheese, green chillies, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt and mix well.
  2. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into long rolls of the size of the puris.
  3. Keep aside.

How to proceed

  1. Dip the prepared potato rolls in the prepared plain flour batter and roll into bread crumbs.
  2. Heat the oil in kadhai and deep fry each roll till they turn golden brown form all the sides. Kep aside.
  3. Apply a little prepared masala water, sprinkle a little onion masala mixture and chillies in vinegar on each roti.
  4. Place a potato roll at the centre, fold and cook each roti on both sides for a few minutes using a little ghee.
  5. Serve hot.
