Ingredients


For Makai Upma
1 1/2 cups coarsely crushed sweet corn kernels (makai ke dane)
2 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1 1/2 tsp chopped green chillies
1/2 cup milk
salt to taste
1/2 tbsp lemon juice

For The Garnish
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)

Method

For makai upma

  1. To make {span class="bold1"}makai upma{/span}, heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan, add the cumin seeds and let the seeds crackle. Add the mustard seeds, asafoetida and green chillies and mix well.
  2. Add the corn, milk, salt to taste and mix well.
  3. Cook on a slow flame for about 9 minutes, while stirring every 30 seconds.
  4. Add the lemon juice and mix well.
  5. Serve the {span class="bold1"}makai upma{/span} immediately garnished with coriander.
