  1. Combine the potatoes, tomatoes, green chillies, 5 curry leaves, turmeric powder and salt along with 1 cup of water in a deep non-stick pan, mix well and cover with a lid and cook on a medium flame for 20 minutes, while stirring occasionally or till the potatoes are over cooked.
  2. Once over cooked, mash them lightly with a back of the spoon.
  3. Add the coconut milk, ¼ cup of water and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally. Keep aside.
  4. For the tempering, heat the oil in a small non-stick pan and add the mustard seeds.
  5. When the seeds crackle, add the red chillies and the remaining 3 curry leaves and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  6. Pour the tempering over the stew.
  7. Serve hot.

Potato stew.. mildly flavour coconut accompaniment. I being a south indian i have found this recipe very tasty and perfect stew recipe. This is best had in breakfast with appam. The coconutty taste and the tempering with coconut oil.. just rules the whole dish... Try it out..
