Tweet Recipe Description for Spicy Kofta Kadhi ( Kadhi Recipe) Preparation Time: 15 minsCooking Time: 20 mins Makes 6 servings Show me for servings Ingredients To Be Ground Into A Smooth Paste (using A Little Water)1 cup roughly chopped tomatoes7 green chillies , roughly chopped12 garlic (lehsun) cloves2 tbsp freshly grated coconut4 tbsp cashewnuts (kaju)4 tbsp poppy seeds (khus-khus)For The Koftas3/4 cup finely chopped brinjal (baingan / eggplant)1 cup finely chopped cabbage1 cup finely chopped onions1/2 cup besan (bengal gram flour) salt to taste4 tsp finely chopped green chillies a pinch of baking soda oil for deep-fryingFor The Kadhi3 tbsp ghee50 cinnamon (dalchini)3 cloves (laung / lavang)2 cardamoms1 tsp chilli powder1/2 cup besan (bengal gram flour)4 tbsp tamarind (imli) water salt to tasteFor The Garnish4 tbsp fresh cream2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania) Method For the koftasCombine all the ingredients along with 1 tbsp of water in a bowl and mix well.Divide the mixture into 10 equal portions and shape each portion into a round ball.Heat the oil in a deep kadhai and deep-fry, a few koftas at a time, till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides. Drain on absorbent paper and keep aside.For the kadhiHeat the ghee in a deep non-stick kadhai, add the cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.Add the prepared paste and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.Add the chilli powder, besan and 4 tbsp of water and sauté on a medium flame for another 1 to 2 minutes.Add 4 cups of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.Add the tamarind water and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.How to proceedJust before serving, bring the kadhi to boil, add the koftas to it, mix gently and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.Serve immediately garnished with fresh cream and coriander.
