The sweet succulence of sweet potatoes combined with the tongue-tickling excitement of chaat masala, lemon juice and other ingredients gives this tikki a very different flavour, compared to other tikkis you have tasted before.

Sweet potato, with its fibrous yet soft texture, also gives the tikki a unique mouth-feel. Deep-fried, with a crisp yet soft texture, the Sweet Potato Tikki is a wonderful tea-time accompaniment that will become a favourite with everybody.

Try other tikkis too like Lehsuni Matki Palak Tikki or Stuffed Aloo Tikki Chaat .

To make Shakarkand tikki

    To make Shakarkand tikki
  1. Take boiled and mashed sweet potatoes. Apart from being an excellent source of vitamin A, they have a lower glycemic index and carb content as compared to potatoes. You can refer our glossary for sweet potatoes for more details.
  2. Add finely chopped coriander to it.
  3. Now add spices like chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  4. To perk up the flavours add peppy chaat masala and lemon juice. Amchur powder is another spice powder which you can add.

This recipe wasn''t great. My tikkis fell apart in the oil after sticking.

Hi Sana, make sure your dough is binded well, and try one tikki before you fry the whole lot. If required adjust the consistency of the dough by adding 1/2 tbsp more cornflour.
