Ingredients


Upvaas Thalipeeth
1/2 cup rajgira (amaranth) flour
1/4 cup peeled and grated raw potatoes
2 tbsp roasted and coarsely crushed peanuts
1 tsp green chilli paste
1/2 tsp lemon juice
rock salt (sendha namak) to taste
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
1 tsp ghee for greasing and cooking

Method

For upvaas thalipeeth

  1. To make the {span class="bold1"}upvaas thalipeeth{/span}, combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and knead into a soft dough using approx. 1 ½ tbsp water.
  2. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and keep aside.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it lightly with ghee.
  4. Grease your fingers with a little ghee, place a portion of the dough on the tava (griddle) and pat it evenly with greased fingers to form a 100 mm. (4”) diameter circle.
  5. Cook, using a 1 tsp ghee (½ tsp on each side), till they turn golden brown spots appear on both the sides.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to make 3 more upvaas thalipeeth.
  7. Serve the {span class="bold1"}upvaas thalipeeth{/span} hot with green chutney.
