Veg Pasta Recipes for Kids

With their wondrous shapes and chewy texture, it is natural for kids to fall in love with pasta. Mixed and matched with colourful veggies, cheese, and creamy, tangy and herby sauces, they make a lovely snack. Actually, the good thing about pasta is that it is very versatile. Depending on how light or heavy you make it, you can serve it any time of the day – it can be lunch, an after-school snack or even dinner. While many people think that pasta cannot be packed in the tiffin box for lunch, it can be done if you know the right consistency in which to cook it, such that it does not get chewy by afternoon.

You can choose pastas of different shapes, couple them with juicy and colourful veggies, and cook them in different bases, such as tomato sauce, red sauce, creamy white sauce and pesto sauce. Whatever be the base you decide on, you must ensure that the sauce coats the pasta completely, but does not appear too watery or saucy either. Depending on your preferences, you can alter the amount of cheese, herbs and other seasoning used. Likewise, pasta can also be cooked on the stove, or baked. Both methods give the dish different flavours and aromas!

Some of the all-time favourite kids’ pastas are the Cheesy Vegetable Pasta, Mac ‘n’ Cheese and Macaroni Pasta. The Baked Spaghetti in Tomato Sauce, Pasta in Red Sauce and Creamy Pesto Sauce have exotic tastes and visuals, and are sure to be loved by kids. If one fine day, you want to surprise your kids with pasta in their tiffin dabba, go for the Quick Spaghetti. It tastes awesome, and is made such that it remains good in the tiffin box for a couple of hours. Moreover, it is also quite quick, so it’s just perfect to make on a busy morning!

Pastas are drool-worthy, filling dishes that are much-loved by kids. They also give you a nice, tasty way to sneak loads of veggies into your kids’ diets. If you are concerned about maida in your pasta, you can go for organic, whole wheat options that are easily available in specialty stores these days. Nevertheless, making pastas once in a while is a great way to get into your kids’ good books, and with the unending variety of recipes we share with you, you can stay in their good books for a long, long time to come!

4 important points while making kids’ pastas

1. Should not be spicy.
2. Must not be too dry or too saucy – just make sure the sauce coats the pasta well.
3. Make it tasty and cheesy, like kids love it!
4. Try to make it look attractive too.
5. Cut the veggies in an optimum size – if too chunky, your kids might create a fuss.
