These crispy, low fat munchies are made with oats, maize flour and whole-wheat flour instead of refined maida. These are great to keep in your handbag so that you are prepared when hunger strikes. You can also serve them as an appetizer along with garlic tomato salsa.

Ingredients

3/4 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
1 1/2 tsp cornflour
2 tbsp maize flour (makai ka atta)
2 tsp low-fat milk (99.7% fat-free)
1/4 cup quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tbsp low fat curds (dahi)
1 tbsp oil
salt to taste

Other Ingredients
1 tsp oil for greasing

Method
    Method
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, mix well and knead into a firm dough using enough water.
  2. Divide the dough into 30 equal portions and roll each portion to 2 mm. Thickness.
  3. Prick with the help of a fork and cut them into squares that are 50 mm. (2") using a knife.
  4. Place on a greased baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven for 30 minutes at 160°c (320°f) or until lightly brown and crisp.
  5. Cool and store in an air-tight container.

Tips
  1. The crackers will appear a little soft when hot, but will get crisp once they cool down to room temperature.

Hi, can I substitute the cornflour with any grain or millet flour?

   Hello, You can skip adding cornflour if you wish.

Hi, any substitute for maize flour? Or is it same as corn flour?

   Hi Lana, the salt here is according to one''s taste.. we have used approx.. 11/2 tsp of salt.

I tried this recipe today and it was very tasty. Cumin flavor was indeed very nice. I made a whole batch of this for 2 weeks and can also have it with a dip.

These crackers have a lovely cumin flavor to them and very healthy. My daughter loved them.
