Garlicky Methi Dhokli

All of us love having dhoklas for breakfast or with our evening tea, but on busy days we wish there was a faster alternative. Lay your worries to rest with these easy-to-make Garlicky Methi Dhoklis, which are named so because they are thinner than the regular dhoklas. Although it takes around 15 minutes to cook, this dish simply involves assembling the ingredients and cooking them, so it is no fuss after all. The Garlicky Methi Dhokli, with the rich flavour of fenugreek leaves and garlic, also gives us enough iron and heart-friendly nutrients. Make sure you serve it immediately.

Garlicky Methi Dhokli recipe - How to make Garlicky Methi Dhokli

2 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
3/4 cup finely chopped fenugreek (methi) leaves
1 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
salt to taste
1 tsp oil for greasing

  1. Combine all the ingredients along with ½ cup of water in a deep bowl and mix well till no lumps remain.
  2. Grease a 175 mm. (7”) diameter thali using ½ tsp of oil, pour half the batter into it and steam in a steamer for 8 minutes.
  3. Repeat step 2 to make 1 more thali.
  4. Cut into diamond shaped pieces and serve immediately.

Instead of besan anything else for healthier option ?? Also instead of chillie powder can we add green chillies paste ?

   Thank You Sameeta for your review. Besan is healthy but if you do not wish to use only that you can try with equal portions of whole wheat flour and besan, however we have not tried it. You can add green chilli paste instead of chilli powder...
