Ingredients

1 1/2 cups roughly chopped guava
1/4 cup chopped mint leaves (phudina)
1/2 tsp roughly chopped ginger (adrak)
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp roughly chopped green chillies
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp lemon juice
salt to taste

  1. Combine all the ingredients, along with approx. 3 tbsp of water in a mixer and blend till smooth.
  2. Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator and use as required.

  1. To make Guava chutney, Amrood Chutney, Spicy Peru Chutney, take 3 medium sized Guava, wash them very well. Guava should be washed thoroughly as they tend to collect dirt.
  2. Peel the guava.
  3. Put the washed and peeled guava on a chopping board and chop them roughly.
  4. Transfer it to a bowl and keep aside. 3 medium sized guava would give you 1 and a ½ cup approximately 
  5. Rinse the mint and remove the leaves from the stem. Use fresh mint leaves so that it doesn’t turn black and fresh leaves would give a better taste.
  6. Wash and Chop the mint leaves, keep aside. Mint leaves are considered an aid to the digestive system. It is an appetite stimulant and aids in the secretion of gastric juices. Mint would uplift the taste of the dish.
  7. Take an inch of ginger, wash it.
  8. Peel the ginger and roughly chop it.
  9. Take a grinder, add the chopped guava to it. Guava is a diabetic friendly fruit.
  10. Add the roughly ¼ cup of chopped mint leaves.
  11. Add ½ tsp of ginger.
  12. Add sugar.
  13. Add green chillies. Green chillies would be it spicy, you can add green chillies according to your taste.
  14. Add ½ tsp of cumin seeds.
  15. Add lemon juice, the lemon juice and sugar in the chutney would give the Guava chutney a sweet and sour taste.
  16. Add Salt to taste.
  17. Add 3 tbsp of water.
  18. Blend Guava Chutney until smooth.
  19. Transfer the Guava Chutney in a bowl and it is ready to serve. You can also store  the Guava Chutney in a air tight container in the refrigerator.

In this part of world we do not make chutney out of guava fruit because of its tarty taste It is best enjoyed either raw or ripe try once you will never ever leave it. Please smash the seeds with your teeth into a paste and enjoy the nectar as it oozes out

Guava are in full season so I bought a lot of them and then was thinking what all I can make from it and came across this recipe, it was so chatpatta in taste and so good that my whole family enjoyed it.
