Indian methiwali arhar dal is made from cheap and easily avaiable ingredients in Indian such as 1 cup toovar (arhar) dal, 1/2 cup chopped fenugreek (methi) leaves, 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera), 1/4 cup chopped onions, 2 tsp chopped garlic (lehsun), 2 tsp chopped ginger (adrak), 1 tsp green chillies, chopped, 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes, 1 1/2 tsp chilli powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi), 1 tsp lemon juice, 2 tsp oil and salt to taste. how to cook toovar dal -
Take a pressure cooker and add the 1 cup toovar (arhar) dal.

Add 2 cups water.

Pressure cook for 3 whistles. This is how it looks after cooking. Keep aside.
how to make the dal -
Heat 2 tsp oil in a non-stick pan.

Add 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera).

When the seeds crackle, add 1/4 cup chopped onions.

Add the 1 tsp chopped garlic (lehsun)

Add 2 tsp chopped ginger (adrak).

Add 1 tsp finely chopped green chillies

Sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.

Add the 1/2 cup chopped fenugreek (methi) leaves.

Sauté over high flame for 1 minute.

Add 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes.

Add 1 1/2 tsp chilli powder.

Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)

Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.

Add the cooked dal.

Add salt to taste and 1 cup of water.

Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes, while stirring occasionally.

Add 1 tsp lemon juice.
