Kids filling Veg Snacks

If you happen to overhear a few moms talking about their kids or routines, you will be surprised to know that many moms find it more challenging to cook for their kids than for a small party of adults! This is not because kids are hard to please or unhappy with what their moms make, but because kids have a zealous appetite and enthusiastic taste buds, eager to have plenty of variety. Moreover, when it comes to their children’s food, moms are also very concerned. They want their children to be happy and healthy, and are keen on cooking wholesome, filling and tasty food for different meals of the day.

Thrice a day, children need wholesome meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Apart from this, they need something light for the school short-break, something filling to have when they return from school in the evening, plus some tidbits to munch on whenever they are hungry. While jar snacks will cater to the sudden cravings, it is very important to make something more filling and wholesome in the evening.

Kids are bound to be hungry and tired after a long day at school. They need to unwind and recharge themselves before they rush out to play or to other extra-curricular classes like sports or music. A hungry kid cannot concentrate on anything. At the same time, if they are too fully loaded, again they can’t perform well at sports, music and other activities. So, the evening snack needs to be smartly planned such that it is filling and nutritious, yet not too heavy. These snacks must also be easy to make so that you can fix it quickly without wasting too much time. Plus, variety is very important, because attractive snacks are sure to make your kids happy!

With these requirements in mind, we have come up with a selection of yummy, filling and attractive snacks that your kids will love to have in the evening. When in the mood for a bread-based snack, go for the Moong Dal Toast, Aloo Tikki Burger or Healthy Vada Pav. The Cheese Paratha and Moong Dal Palak Cheela are variants of traditional snacks that are sure to please kids. The Bajra, Carrot and Onion Uttapa, Oats Rava Idli and Oats Bhel are delicious ways to introduce your kids to more grains like oats or bajra.

Sometimes, you can also modify the recipes slightly to cater to the whims and fancies of your children. On a holiday, involve them in preparing these tasty snacks so they will be comfortable around the kitchen when they grow up. Many of these recipes are likely to be enjoyed by adults too, so you can also enjoy a tasty bite with your kids, along with a cup of hot tea or coffee!
